NYC Nonprofits is a list of several units in the Mayor’s Office that work together to strengthen NYC Nonprofits and includes City Council funding opportunities.

New York State Education Dept. – Grant Funding

New York State Dept. of Health offers information and resources for promoting and protecting public health, along with listings of funding opportunities which support public health.

NY Funders Alliance – an association of grantmakers and philanthropic advisors throughout New York State.  They provide and develop opportunities for funders to convene and connect, deliver tools and resources, and engage our members in programming that highlights national, state, and regional thought leaders that focus on issues members care about.

Philanthropy New York – a trusted community of nearly 300 grantmaking organizations that develops forward-thinking guidance and programming to address the unique challenges of philanthropy and convenes funders to strengthen ties across the sector.

New York Council of Nonprofits – develop and promote an effective and vibrant charitable nonprofit community throughout New York State. This is to be accomplished by strengthening organizational capacity, being an advocate and unifying voice, informing philanthropic giving, and conducting research and planning to demonstrate relevance and impact.

Nonprofit New York – a membership organization with a long history of serving the New York nonprofit sector and its members with useful information, cost-saving programs, capacity building training, and advocacy services related to nonprofit management.

Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) – 9 NY Chapters – NYC, Western NY, Genesee Valley, Hudson-Mohawk Area, Central NY, Long Island, Finger Lakes Area, Mid-Hudson Valley, and Westchester.

Association of Nonprofit Specialists-NY is a network of independent consultants, specialists and organizations that provide management assistance to nonprofits.

Better Business Bureau Metro New York helps people find and recommend businesses and charities they can trust. Areas of geographic focus include: New York City, Long Island, and the Mid-Hudson region.

charitySTRONG is a New York state focused organization, helping nonprofits build strong and diverse boards of directors through an innovative recruitment program and easily accessible director training aimed at the highest standards of board leadership, governance, and oversight.

Corporation for National and Community Service-NY provides connections with AmeriCorps and Senior Corps in New York.

FJC Fiscal Sponsorship Program New York – Not yet received your 501(c) (3) determination letter from the IRS? Fiscal sponsorship can be a way to receive grant funding in the interim. Many community foundations also offer fiscal sponsorship, so check with your local community foundation too.

Fractured Atlas is focused on arts sponsorship and management services (nationwide, based in NYC).

Lawyers Alliance for New York provides legal services from more than 1,600 volunteer attorneys for nonprofit organizations and social enterprises. In addition, publications, workshops and webinars provide guidance about formation, fundraising law, fiscal management, nonprofit governance and other legal aspects of operating a not-for-profit corporation.

New York City Bar Justice Center – The Public Service Network matches attorneys with legal and non-legal volunteer opportunities for organizations in the not-for-profit sector.

New York Community Trust Fund connects past, present, and future generous New Yorkers with vital nonprofits in NYC working to make a healthy, equitable, and thriving community for all.

New York State Society of CPAs is a membership association of certified public accountants which answers technical inquiries, offers training in financial and tax areas and provides referrals. 

United Way of New York State working to improve the lives of all New Yorkers.
