Although board members or executive directors who don’t comprehend the intricacies of grant development may want to start completing grant applications immediately because “we need those funds now,” it’s important to determine if the time is right to take that step and to know what’s required for successful grantseeking. 

In Step 2, you will ask yourself 3 simple questions:

• Are we grant ready?
• Do we collaborate with other entities?
• Do we have fundable programs/projects?

By exploring the first question, you’ll learn how to recognize whether you should be applying for grants now or focus on organizational growth to prepare for grantseeking within the coming year.
