Week 2 Review

Week 2 is where we jumped into the core of why your organization needs funding.

At this point, your organization should be able to clearly communicate:

  • why it is distinct (UVP),
  • what it is asking funders to support,
  • and who it can realistically work with to deliver results.

If you cannot do those three things yet, you are not ready to move forward.

What You Should Have Completed

Before advancing, you must have completed the following:

1. Uniqueness Statement

You should have a short, clear statement that explains:

  • what makes your organization different,
  • why that difference matters,
  • and how it shows up in your work.

If your statement sounds generic or could apply to many organizations, revise it.

2. Project Overview (PRINT Method)

You must have at least one completed Project Overview that clearly defines:

  • the project idea,
  • the impact you intend to create,
  • the specific community need,
  • and the target population served.

This overview should stand on its own.
If someone unfamiliar with your organization cannot understand what you are proposing to do, it is not finished.

3. Assessing Partnerships Document

You should have a realistic list of:

  • existing partnerships you can leverage, and
  • potential partnerships that align with your project and mission.

These partnerships should be:

  • operationally plausible,
  • mutually beneficial,
  • and relevant to the work you actually plan to carry out.

Avoid aspirational partnerships that look good on paper but lack a clear role or value exchange.

Before You Move On

Answer these questions honestly:

  • Can I clearly explain what makes our organization different?
  • Do we have a specific, fundable project—not just a general need?
  • Do our partnerships make sense for the work we plan to do?

If the answer to any of these is no, pause and revise now.
